Devblog 15 - Building Systems, Balancing Combat, and Preparing for May

After skipping last week’s devblog, it feels good to get back into the rhythm of Sunday updates. I held off on posting because most of the work was backend focused, but not exactly exciting to read about when nothing visible changed on the front end. This week, though, brought a mix of combat fixes, stat balancing, and the early foundation of a brand new system I’m excited to share.

Adventure Guild & Slayer System

This week I began setting up what will become the Adventure Guild - a hybrid between a skill and a more interactive combat loop. Players can earn reputation by completing slayer tasks, and each capital city now has a Guild Master who hands out assignments.

The system is still early, and there’s a lot of balancing ahead. Items haven’t been added to the guild shop yet because I want to gather more feedback and get a better sense of how quickly players progress. The goal is to avoid flooding the game with resources while still giving players meaningful ways to earn potions, gear, and special items that help bridge the gap between crafting and dungeon progression.

About the Current Guild Buff Abuse

Yes - I’m fully aware that many players are abusing guild buffs right now, and it’s causing some people to progress much faster than intended. I haven’t patched it yet because I don’t want to delete tens of thousands of resources from guilds. Next month, the guild system is getting a major overhaul, and many guilds will naturally lose a large portion of their hall upgrades during that process.

With the May 1st reset approaching, I’m choosing to focus on new systems and stability rather than patching something that will be wiped soon anyway.

Looking Ahead to May

May is going to be a huge month. With only a month left before the reset, my priority is to build out as many core systems as possible, polish existing ones, and get Morndale into a stable, content-ready state. There are still quests, shop items, and a long list of monsters to add - so expect May to be packed.

What’s Coming Next

The next two weeks will focus heavily on QoL improvements and visual updates across various pages - achievements, logs, and profile layouts. I’ve been working on a completely new user profile design for a couple of weeks now, and I’m really excited to get it into your hands.

Early next month, I’m planning to revisit pets and mounts before shifting my attention to the big guild overhaul.

As always, thank you to everyone who’s stuck with Morndale through these last few months. I hope you all have a wonderful week.
