Devblog 04 — Welcome on the New Year!

Happy New Year, adventurers!
This week was all about tightening bolts, polishing systems, and laying down the backend groundwork as we march toward the February 1st Open Alpha. With the date creeping closer, a lot of attention went into making sure both the game and the website feel cohesive, stable, and ready for a flood of new players.

Website & Front-End Updates

The website got some much‑needed love this week, especially with the Open Alpha announcement going live.

  • Updated the main site homepage with more game content and a clearer showcase of what Morndale offers
  • Fixed styling issues across several sub‑pages to keep everything consistent and readable

These changes help set the tone for new players discovering Morndale for the first time.

Gameplay & Item Updates

  • New Health Potion added

World & Resource Improvements

The world of Morndale is becoming more grounded and predictable in how players gather materials.

  • Gatherable resources are now being locked to specific map locations
  • Map location details panel now shows items available at each location

This marks the first step toward a more intentional resource ecosystem, making exploration and routing more meaningful.

User Profiles & Customization

A big focus this week was preparing the foundation for player identity and personalization.

  • Added profile settings
  • Began the full user profile overhaul
  • Added new customization settings so players can start shaping their identity
  • Implemented the framework for profile pictures and banners in the shop
  • Fixed a bug with featured shop items so the right items actually show up front and center

This system will grow significantly over the next few weeks, eventually becoming a core part of how players express themselves in Morndale.

Auction House Polish

  • Minor styling issues fixed

Wrapping Up

This week was heavy on backend prep and foundational systems — the kind of work that doesn’t always make flashy screenshots but is absolutely essential for a stable and exciting Open Alpha launch.

I’m genuinely excited for what the new year brings. February is going to be huge, and 2026 is shaping up to be an incredible year for Morndale.
Onward we go! :D
